Anastasia Rizikov, often referred to as "The red-haired pianist", lives up to her name. With a playing style full of contrasts, she intrigues and captivates. The Canadian-Ukrainian pianist has made her mark on stages around the world, basing her freedom of expression on flawless technique. She has the courage to be herself—passionate, intense, and authentic.
In 2024, she released Shum, her first album with Warner Classics - Erato, alongside cellist Lisa Strauss. With around thirty concertos in her repertoire, Anastasia Rizikov regularly performs as soloist with internationally renowned orchestras. She also shares the stage with chamber music partners such as Gautier Capuçon and Daniel Lozakovich, in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall in New York and the National Opera of Beijing.
Born in Toronto to Ukrainian parents, Anastasia Rizikov won the Vladimir Horowitz International Competition in Kyiv at the age of 7 and made her debut with the Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Mykola Dyadyura. This marked the beginning of a series of first prizes she would go on to win worldwide. From the age of 12, she began competing in and winning numerous adult competitions. In 2015, at the age of 16, she won first prize at the Jaén International Competition, which led to her first recording with Naxos. At 18, she crossed the Atlantic to continue her studies in France at the École Normale de Musique Alfred Cortot, then at the Paris National Conservatory of Music in the class of Frank Braley, graduating in 2025.
Today, she performs alongside international artists such as Daniel Lozakovich and Gautier Capuçon, with whom she has shared the stage in Asia, Europe, and North America. In 2023, they notably performed at the Beijing Performing Arts Center and recorded a single during the same tour to commemorate the centenary of Maria Callas.
In 2024, invited by President Emmanuel Macron for the Fête de la Musique at the Élysée Palace, Anastasia performed her own arrangement of Gabriel Fauré’s « Après un Rêve » in front of 2,000 people, and invited cellist Victor Julien-Laferrière and clarinetist Pierre Génisson to perform with her.
Anastasia Rizikov has approximately thirty concertos in her repertoire. This mastery of the concerto genre allows her to regularly perform with international orchestras such as: Kyiv Philharmonic Orchestra, Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Laval Symphony Orchestra, Niagara Symphony Orchestra, Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia, Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, Limoges Opera Symphony Orchestra, and the Oise Philharmonic Orchestra.
Whether solo or in chamber music, she performs in internationally renowned venues: National Opera of Beijing, Carnegie Hall in New York, Roy Thompson Hall and Koerner Hall in Toronto, Hong Kong City Hall, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Manuel de Falla Auditorium in Granada, NOSPR in Katowice, Kyiv Philharmonic, Fazioli Hall in Sacile, Limoges Opera, Beauvais Theater, Grand Palais Éphémère, Salle Cortot, Élysée Palace, and Quai d’Orsay in Paris. She is also a guest of many festivals: Verbier Festival, Gstaad New Year Music Festival, Nohant Festival Chopin, Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise, Biarritz Piano Festival, 1001 Notes in Limousin, Les Escales du Classique, Les Heures Musicales de Biot, among others.
Anastasia Rizikov has met and received guidance from renowned figures such as Menahem Pressler, Gábor Takács-Nagy, Yo-Yo Ma, Sir András Schiff, Emanuel Ax, Sergei Babayan, Fazıl Say, Nikolai Kapustin, and Ivry Gitlis.
In parallel with her recitals, the pianist is contributing to the emergence of new forms of concert performance. Each of her projects is based on a carefully curated artistic direction. Live performance is central to her work—from lighting, to scenography, to wardrobe. With a strong interest in fashion, Anastasia Rizikov expresses a bold new concert attire aesthetic, inviting us to rethink the traditional concert dress codes.
In 2022, she joined the Banque Populaire Foundation and the Gautier Capuçon Foundation, where she met Franco-Russian cellist Lisa Strauss. Together, they founded the Duo Shum, which highlights music from Eastern and Central Europe, the Balkans, and Asia Minor. The word “shum” meaning “noise” in Ukrainian and Russian reflects the Slavic roots of both musicians. In May 2024, they released Shum, their first album with Warner Classics - Erato, a tribute to rare 20th and 21st-century works for piano and cello in a journey bridging East and West.
In 2025, after a concert at the Limoges Opera and a recital with soloists from the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse in l’Union, Anastasia Rizikov will perform J.S. Bach’s D minor Concerto at the Poissy Theater as part of the Envol Musical piano season. She will also perform alongside violinist Geza Hosszu-Legocky at Salle Cortot in the Opus Cortot concert series. In duo with Lisa Strauss she will appear at the Musiques en Bazadais Festival and at the Cité de la Musique et de la Danse in Soissons.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, the pianist has raised over €30,000 through charity concerts, donating to aid organizations such as the Canada-Ukraine Foundation and the Red Cross.
Anastasia Rizikov has been represented by the Hugo Panonacle Artist Agency since September 2023.
